Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has lauded the visionary leadership of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde following the successful inauguration of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
The governor had, earlier on Thursday, inaugurated the Council and proclaimed the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the rotational chairman with a two-year tenure.
He said the inauguration of the Council was after consultation with the Alaafin of Oyo, Soun of Ogbomoso and Olubadan of Ibadan, all of whom, he said, agreed that the rotational arrangement should start with the Olubadan
Chief Sanusi, in a statement from his Media Office, described the inauguration of the Council as a historic step toward strengthening traditional institutions and deepening unity among royal fathers across the state.
He particularly congratulated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his appointment as Chairman of the Oyo State Traditional Council.
Sanusi described the choice of Oba Ladoja as well-deserved and reflective of the wisdom, experience, and commitment of the foremost Ibadan traditional ruler to peace and progress.
“The constitution of the Oyo State Traditional Council is a landmark achievement that will further enhance harmony, consultation, and collective leadership among our revered traditional rulers.
“Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has, once again, demonstrated purposeful leadership and respect for our rich cultural heritage,” Chief Sanusi stated in the statement.
He commended the state House of Assembly for the passage of the law that gave legal backing to the establishment of the Council, noting that the legislative action reflected a shared commitment to institutional development and good governance.
Chief Sanusi expressed confidence that, under the chairmanship of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs would serve as a strong platform for unity, stability, and socio-cultural advancement across the state.
He, therefore, urged all stakeholders to support the council in the discharge of its responsibilities for the benefit of the people of Oyo State.
