Detectives of the Igbesa Division, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested one Chidi Ebere ‘M’, aged 27, for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist in Igbesa, Ogun State.
As stated in a press release on Thursday by state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident occurred at about 7a.m., on Wednesday, April 2026
The suspected killer reportedly boarded a motorcycle operated by the motorcyclist, Sunday Ogbu ‘M’, aged 36, and attacked him in an attempt to seize the bike, resulting in a violent struggle.
A witness at the scene was reported to have raised the alarm, prompting police to rush to the scene.
The motorcyclist was rescued and taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
The suspected killer was apprehended immediately, while the motorcycle and the knife used in the attack were recovered as exhibits.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has condemned the act and assured that justice will be served.
He however urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
