The Okanlomo Oodua Movement has postponed, indefinitely, the Okanlomo Oodua National Security Summit, tagged “Ilaji 2026”, which was scheduled to hold in Ilaji, Oyo State.
The postponement was contained in a statement, on Friday, by the Personal Media Aide to the Okanlomo Oodua Office, Williams Aide Martins.
As stated in the statement, the decision to postpone the Okanlomo Oodua National Security Summit followed “careful consultations and strategic reviews” to ensure that the summit meets its intended objectives.
“While preparations had reached an advanced stage, it became necessary to take this step in order to ensure that, when convened, the summit fully reflects the seriousness, inclusiveness, and impact required of a national security engagement of this magnitude,” Martins stated.
He emphasised that the postponement should not be viewed as a setback, but as a “strategic pause to strengthen coordination, broaden engagement, and deliver a summit worthy of its purpose.”
He assured that Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Dotun Sanusi who is the movement’s leader, remained committed to fostering dialogue on security, peace-building, and the protection of lives and livelihoods across the South-West and Nigeria at large.
“Together, we remain committed to a safer, stronger, and more secure nation,” Martins quoted Sanusi as saying.
The media aide further stated that a new date for the summit will be announced in due course through official channels.
Meanwhile, the movement expressed gratitude to partners, institutions, traditional authorities, security stakeholders, and members of the public for their continued support and understanding.
