Chief of Staff to late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr Saka Balogun and former Minister of Power and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese, will serve as chairman and co-chairman of the Elders’ Council, respectively.
The constitution of the two councils was contained in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, dated 12 October, 2023.
The letter indicated that other members of the Elders’ Council include a former deputy governor of the state, Engr Hameed Gbadamosi, former First Lady, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja and Chief Jacob Adetoro.
Others are Chief Sunday Ogunlade, Ambassador Ronke Adefope, Chief Nureni Akanbi and Chief Ademola Eyinade.
The letter added that the State Advisory Council will be chaired by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN.
Members of the Advisory Council include a former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Senator Hosea Agboola and Senator Gbenga Babalola.
Others include the state SDP governorship candidate for the 2023 election, Barrister Michael Lana, former AD Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon Babatunde Oduyoye and Senator Kamarudeen Adedibu.
Four other members of the Advisory Council will be announced in due course, it was stated in the letter.
As contained in the letter, Governor Makinde congratulated members of the two councils.
He urged the members of the two councils to contribute their quota to the continued development of the state and the realisation of the Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development.
In another development, Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has constituted the Governing Council for Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.
This was contained in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to Oyo State governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, dated 12 October, 2023.
The letter named Professor Ayo Ogunkunle as the chairman of the council.
Other members of the council are Professor Segun Ajiboye, Professor Abass Adedibu, Chief Isaac Aderibigbe Koleoso and Mrs Funmilayo Orisadeyi.
Governor Makinde congratulated members of the Governing Council of the university.
He also charged them to leave no stone unturned to make the university one of the best not just in Nigeria, but in Africa as a whole.
Emmanuel Alayande University, formerly Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, was recently approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for upgrading to a university, following the request of the state government.
