ThrillerbandZ Music Challenge Will Transform Nigeria’s Culture-Bimbo Esho
The ThrillerbandZ Music Challenge is aimed at showcasing and promoting an important aspect of the rich Nigerian music heritage in order to transform it into a viable cultural product.
The music challenge, the first of its kind will take place at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos from Friday, 17 December to Saturday, 18 December, 2022.
According to the brain behind the challenge, Bimbo Esho, the initiative will boost the composition of meaningful lyrics and lively songs, quality dance styles, stage appeal as well as excellent performances to delight music patrons even beyond the shores of Nigeria.
The 12-hour back-to-back music concert is put together by Evergreen Musical Company Ltd in partnership with the National Theatre, Lagos.
“Livebands play prominent roles in our day-to-day social activities including weddings, burials, birthday, naming ceremonies, religious and political conventions, among others.
“Not less than 50 livebands are expected to compete to showcase their musical appeal to thrill, pleasure and dazzle the audience and African music aficionados in a relaxed environment with unique ambience, colourful lightnings, savory culinary delights and drinks.
“This event, which is, no doubt, the first of its kind in Nigeria will overtime become a veritable platform that will help to boost authentic African music repertoire and tourism in the country,” she said..
During the recent press conference, held at the National Theatre Marquee, the Lagos State government, represented by the Special Adviser, Tourism, Art and Culture, Mr Solomon Bonu, had promised full sponsorship support and commitment of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration for the event.
Some of the performers, particularly youths, expressed high hopes and expectations on the pleges made by the Lagos State governor.
Bimbo Esho said outstanding performers shall win laurels, fantastic cash prizes and musical instruments and many talents shall be exposed to the media and record labels.
