Segun Kehinde, the publisher of Goalpoacher News, has narrated how the Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS), transformed his life completely from being a media practitioner to real estate business.
He revealed that his emergence as a media entrepreneur and his recent venture into real estate were products of the same life-changing mentorship of Sanusi.
Kehinde, an Associate Member of the Institute of Negotiators and Community Development (INCD) made this disclosure in an appreciation message made available to journalists on Tuesday.
The online publisher described Chief Sanusi, Chairman/CEO, Ilaji Hotel and Resorts, as the architect of his total transformation, professionally, personally, mentally and economically.
According to him, the support he received from the business mogul and renowned philanthropist came at a defining moment when he needed to have another means of livelihood.
“What Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi did for me goes far beyond media. He reshaped my mindset, my confidence and my future, and today that transformation reflects not only in journalism but also in my venture into real estate,” Kehinde said.
He explained that, while many people associate his name solely with the success of Goalpoacher News, only a few understand that Sanusi’s mentorship and support also inspired him to diversify into real estate as a means of building long-term stability and generational value.
“He helped me to understand the importance of asset ownership. Through his guidance, I took bold steps into real estate, which has become a critical part of my personal growth and financial journey,” he added.
Kehinde noted that Chief Sanusi consistently emphasised sustainability, discipline, professionalism and long-term planning, values that influenced his decision to invest in property and expand beyond the media space.
“Venturing into real estate was a direct result of the vision, confidence and financial support he instilled in me,” he stated.
He further described Chief Sanusi as a rare leader whose influence extended beyond business support to moral guidance, personal welfare and life planning.
“JDS did not ask about my background; he focused on my potential. He gave me direction when I had none and encouraged me to see possibilities beyond my immediate circumstances,” Kehinde said.
The media entrepreneur added that the lessons and values instilled in him by Chief Sanusi has shaped his leadership style, business ethics and relationship with the society.
“He is not just a benefactor; he is a destiny-builder. From media to real estate, everything I have become today is a reflection of the opportunity and trust he gave me,” Kehinde noted.
He described JDS, the Okanlomo Oodua and CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, as a philanthropist whose empowerment initiatives have continued to positively impact lives across Oyo State and South-West Region.
Kehinde reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the principles of integrity, excellence and service passed on to him by Chief Sanusi, stressing that his journey remained a testimony to the power of purposeful leadership and genuine mentorship.
