Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has called for peace, unity, and collective prayers as Muslims and Christians observe Ramadan and Lent simultaneously.
The Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, in a statement issued by the Okanlomo Oodua Media Team, described the rare convergence of the sacred Ramadan and Lent periods as a divine signal and a confirmation of God’s plan to answer the prayers of the people.
Sanusi emphasised that the period presents a unique opportunity for spiritual reflection, mutual understanding, and strengthened coexistence among adherents of both faiths.
He urged Muslims and Christians to use the Ramadan and Lent season to pray fervently for peace, stability, and progress in Oyo State, across Yorubaland, and throughout Nigeria.
Sanusi stressed that unity of purpose, love for one another, and sincere devotion remain essential to national growth and harmony.
“When faith communities walk together in prayer and sacrifice, society moves closer to peace, justice, and shared prosperity,” he stated.
He encouraged the citizens to embody the core values of Ramadan and Lent namely, self-discipline, compassion, forgiveness, and service to humanity, while supporting one another irrespective of religious differences.
Sanusi concluded with a call on leaders at all levels to promote tolerance and inclusive governance, noting that enduring peace can only be achieved through unity and collective responsibility.
