The Osun State government has unveiled 25 names as commissioner and special adviser nominees to serve in the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration.
The names, as forwarded by the governor, were made public at the plenary of the state House of Assembly, today.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, made the disclosure in a release by his Chief Press Secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu.
As stated in the release, the Speaker read out the governor’s letter containing the names of the nominees to the other lawmakers at plenary.
The unveiling of the names was coming about eight months after the inception of the present administration in the state on 27 November, 2022.
Governor Adeleke had, three days ago, submitted the list of commissioner and special adviser nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening.
The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the delay in appointing the commissioners was caused by many factors, including the litigation that followed the outcome of the governorship election.
The 25 nominees include Barrister Oladosu Babatunde; Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe; Sesan Epharaim Oyedele; Barrister Kolapo Alimi; Mr Soji Ajeigbe; Moshood Olalekan Olagunju and Hon. George Alabi.
Others are Hon. Sunday Olufemi Oroniyi; Mr. Abiodun Bankole Ojo; Dr. Basiru Tokunbo Salami; Mr Morufu Ayofe; Mr Sola Ogungbile; Rev. Bunmi Jenyo and Mrs Ayo Awolowo and Barrister Wole Jimi Bada.
Also among the nominees are Hon. Dipo Eluwole; Alhaji Rasheed Aderibigbe; Professor Morufu Ademola Adeleke; Mr Adeyemo Festus Ademola; and Mr Olabiyi Anthony Odunlade.
Others on the list are Barrister Jola Akintola; Hon. Mayowa Adejorin; Mrs Adenike Folashade Adeleke; Mr Tola Faseru; and Alhaji Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa.
The state legislature also announced that it has set up an ad-hoc committee to conduct a preliminary screening of the 25 nominees.
It stated that this will be done before they will appear before the House for full screening and confirmation, assuring that “the process will be completed in good time.”
