The Junior Chamber International (JCI), a leadership organisation at The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI), has presented an Award of Honour to the acting Rector of the institution, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi.
The award was presented to the acting Rector in his office on Wednesday in recognition of his leadership competence and contribution to the development of the institution.
This was contained in a press release e-signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Soladoye Adewole.
The 41st president of JCI, Mr Akande Moses Olamide, a student of Accountancy Department in the institution said the award was to appreciate the acting Rector for his contributions to the development of the institution.
The award was presented on behalf of JCI to Dr. Lasisi by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Soladoye, who also doubled as the Staff Adviser to the organisation. He was accompanied by the president of the organisation.
The president, Mr Akande Moses Olamide, described JCI as an organisation that provides leadership development opportunities that empowers young people to create positive change.
The JCI president added that the organisation has done series of projects in the institution. These, he said, included parliamentary procedure training and Asiwaju Inter Faculty Speech Contest among students of the institution.
Responding, the acting Rector of TPI, Dr. Taiwo Lasisi, expressed his profound gratitude for the award of honour presented to him.
He commended the efforts of JCI for the quality of its membership and positive leadership contributions to the institution.
The acting Rector promised the support of the Management for JCI and urged other students and students’ bodies to emulate the positive activities of the organisation.
Present at the presentation were the acting Bursar, Mr David Taiwo and Director of Audit, Mr Ambaliyu Tijani.
Other JCI executive members who accompanied the president were Awoniran Ayomide, Akanni Mistura, Kofoworola Agboola and Adebayo Opeyemi.
