The Oyo State Progressive Youth Assembly has commended the chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, for facilitating employment at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for 25 youths from the state.
Chairman of the group, Comrade Musibau Adetunji, in a statement, said the organisation was impressed with Professor Akande unique ways of empowering youths in the state.
“Oyo Youth State Progressive Assembly has been following your activities for some time. We are quite impressed with the uncommon ways you have been doing what you are doing for the youths of the state, even as a non-elective public office holder.
“We are aware that before now, many young people in Oyo State have been nominated for training on Information and Digital Technology and scores have secured appointments in federal agencies and institutions through your intervention.
“For us, as an organisation, we deemed it fit to commend Professor Akande so as to encourage him to do more for young people and also to inspire other public office holders to take a cue from him.
“We no longer want politicians to distribute motor cycles and grinding machines for us as empowerment,” he said.
Expressing the desire of the group to collaborate with Professor Akande on his various youth empowerment initiatives, Comrade Adetunji said the youths of the state would always support anyone with genuine commitment to make life meaningful for the people.
“We are ready to partner with you on any initiative that will lead to poverty reduction, employment generation and poverty reduction,” he submitted.
