The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has described the death of Mr Kola Oladapo (Mr Nice Guy), an ace broadcaster with the Ibadan-based Lagelu 96.7FM, as a painful passing.
The Comrade Akeem Abas-led State Council stated this in its condolences to the Management and Staff of the radio station, as well as the family of the late broadcaster.
The Oyo NUJ stated in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Abas and Secretary, ‘Dayo Adu, that it received the news of the death of Oladapo with deep shock and profound sadness.
The Oyo NUJ Council Oladapo described the deceased as a passionate broadcaster, committed media professional and vibrant on-air personality whose voice, creativity, and warmth endeared him to listeners and colleagues alike.
“His contributions to Lagelu 96.7FM and the broadcasting profession will remain indelible.
“We recognised the huge vacuum Oladapo’s departure has created within the Lagelu 96.7FM family and the wider media community in Oyo State.
“His professionalism, humility and dedication to duty stood him out as a worthy ambassador of the journalism and broadcasting profession.
“On behalf of journalists in Oyo State, the NUJ prays that God grants the management and entire staff of Lagelu 96.7FM, as well as the Oladapo family, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” it said.
The Council prayed that Almighty God will grant the departed soul and eternal rest and comforts all who mourn him.
The Management of Lagelu 96.7FM had, earlier on Sunday morning, announced the passing of Oladapo who was also a media trainer.
The Management also stated that, until his peaceful transition, the deceased had distinguished himself for many years as a talented news caster, programme/content developer, voice over Expert, sports caster/commentator, Master of Ceremony and mentor to many current and aspiring broadcasters.
“Even though, his exit from this earthly sojourn leaves a huge vacuum, we are consoled that he lived a life of service and accomplished his mission.
“Our hearts go to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.
“May his soul rest in peace,” the Management had stated in the statement.
