Bankole Returns To A Familiar Terrain As New CP, Ogun Police Command
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Alikali Baba Usman, has appointed Lanre Sikiru Bankole as the new Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command.
The appointment of Bankole, a Commissioner of Police, as the new helmsman of the state police command followed the retirement from service of the immediate past occupant of the seat in the state, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun.
The new CP is a familiar face in Ogun State as he had, at different times, worked as a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Abigi, Sango, Agbara and Owode Egba, respectively.
The new appointment was contained in a release, on today, AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.7/07/10/2021, by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Bankole, the new Commissioner of Police, a graduate of English Language from the University of Lagos, hailed from Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State.
He joined the Nigeria Police as a cadet assistant superintendent of police in March 1990, and has worked in various capacity in different parts of the country, Akwa Ibom Police Command, Ebonyi State Police Command, Port Authority Police Command as well as Ogun State Police Command.
CP Bankole, who had also served as Area Commander Shagamu Ogun State, as well as a zonal sports officer, was one time the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Port CID, Port Authority Police Command.
When he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, he was posted to Interpol Section of FCIID, Abuja as DC Admin and Investigation from 2017 to 2020.
Bankole got promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in June 2021 and was posted as CP Interpol Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon Lagos, where he served until his current appointment as the new commissioner of police Ogun State Command.
He has attended various professional courses within and outside Nigeria, and notable among them are Junior Command Course, Intermidiate Command Course, Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.
The new Ogun State Police helmsman also attended Financial Crime Course at the Administrative Staff College (ASCON) Badagry as well as the United Nations Logistics Officers’ Course at Koffi Annan Peace Keeping and Training Centre, Ghana.
CP Bankole is an holder of Bachelor of Art Degree in English and Literature from University of Lagos. He also has LLB in Law from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye and BL from Nigeria Law School, Lagos. He is happily married and blessed with children.
