Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen Lekan Balogun CFR, Alli Okunmade II, has tasked security agencies to investigate the killing of a woman at Agala Forest in Ibadan.
He gave the charge when he received officers and men of the Ibadan South-East Local Government Main Division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at his Alarere residence, on Thursday.
The security team was led on the courtesy visit to the Olubadan by Commander Ekundayo Temitope.
Oba Balogun condemned the gruesome murder of the yet-to-be identified woman at the Agala Forest, last Tuesday.
He called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrator(s) of the dastardly act for appropriate legal actions.
Oba Balogun, in a release by Personal Assistant (Media), Oladele Ogunsola, described the murder act as very ugly, barbaric and animalistic.
He implored security agencies, not only to fish out the culprits, but also ensure that such a dastardly act does not occur again.
Olubadan, who spoke through his Bobajiro, Chief Tajudeen Aremu, said he was surprised that such a barbaric act could happen in Ibadan and no apprehension was made.
He emphasised that the intelligence network of the security agencies needed to be more strengthened.
“It was a condemnable act by all standard and every right-thinking person should rise against it.
“I call on you, all the security agencies in the state, to remain up and doing to ensure that we don’t have a repeat of such nonsense in our community.
“We are known for peaceful and communal living and any attempt to import such condemnable act should be resisted by all our might,” he added.
Earlier in his remarks, Commander Ekundayo said he came to the Palace to present himself as the new Divisional Head of the Corps in Ibadan South-East Local Government NSCDC.
He added that the visit was also in recognition of the local government area as the one directly in charge of the Olubadan Palace.
The NSCDC Commander said the role of traditional institution in the security arrangements of any society cannot be over-emphasised.
He also noted that, in order to succeed in the onerous task of securing the society, there must be collaboration between traditional rulers and security agencies.
“As our father, I count on Your Majesty’s support and understanding at all times.
“I am aware that no divisional head of our organisation had ever paid this kind of visit to the palace.
“With every sense of humility, the implication of that is my recognition of Your Majesty’s strategic and importance to my success.
“I thank you, Kabiyesi, for this honour which I pledge not to take for granted,” Commander Ekundayo added.
