Makinde Strengthens Heath Care In Oyo With N1.5bn
The governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has released a sum of N1.5 billion to the state Ministry of Health as part of the efforts by the state government to ensure that the residents of the state have access to good health care.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashir Bello, disclosed this, on Wednesday, while declaring open Health Financing Technical Working Group Workshop on Health Care Financing Policy in Oyo State.
According to the commissioner, the state government will, at the end of the two-day workshop, adopt and implement the resolution of the strategy designed at the forum, just as he hinted of plans by the government to subsidized secondary health care in the state.
In his remarks, the program’s director, Dr. Gafar Alawode, said the roadmap for the health care financing project will span for the first five years after which it would be evaluated and modified.
Participants at the workshop bared their minds on the importance of the health care financing roadmap in the state, saying the project will address the problem of ‘no pay, no care’ at private and public hospitals across the state.
