Senator Sharafadeen Alli has called for stronger policies to ensure gender equity as he joined the global community in celebrating the International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025.
The federal lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District stated this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the IWD 2025, acknowledging the remarkable contributions of women to national development.
Senator Alli, in a statement by his Special Adviser (Media), Akeem Abas, acknowledged the resilience, strength and achievements of women in various fields, recognising their role in nation-building as well as societal progress.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker stressed the need for continued advocacy for gender equity, calling for opportunities that can empower women, both in the public and private sectors.
The lawmaker also urged all stakeholders to empower women and bridge the gap in leadership education as well as economic participation.
Senator Alli also commended Nigerian women, particularly those in Oyo South Senatorial District, for their unwavering dedication to family, community and national development.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies that promote the rights and welfare of women.
“As we celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), let us all renew our pledge to ensure a more inclusive and equitable society where every woman can thrive and achieve her full potential,” Alli added in the statement.
