Senator Sharafadeen Alli urged Muslims to see the occasion of the Hijrah 1446 AH as a time for reflection, renewal and spiritual growth.
This was as he extended his heartfelt felicitations to Islamic faithful across Oyo South and beyond on the occasion of the new Islamic Calendar, Hijrah 1446 AH.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser (Media) to the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Akeem Abas, on Sunday.
The new Islamic Calendar commemorates the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina.
Senator Alli expressed joy in joining the Muslim community to mark the significant event. He noted that it symbolises the beginning of the Islamic New Year.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker urged Muslims to see the occasion as a time for reflection, renewal and spiritual growth.
He urged them to strengthen their faith, engage in acts of kindness as well as promote peace and unity within their communities.
“The principles of Hijrah, which include perseverance, sacrifice and commitment to righteousness, remain relevant in today’s world. They should guide the actions of every Muslim,” Senator Alli said.
He called on Muslims to pray for the continued peace, stability and prosperity of Oyo South Senatorial District and Nigeria.
Senator Alli stressed the need for unity and understanding among the diverse religious as well as ethnic groups in the country. He said such harmony was crucial for national development.
He reassured the Oyo South constituents of his commitment to fostering an inclusive society where everyone can thrive regardless of their religious beliefs.
Senator Alli also lauded the resilience and contributions of the Muslim community in Oyo South Senatorial District and across Nigeria.
He urged the Islamic faithful to continue to pray and work for the peace and progress of the senatorial district, Oyo State and the country.
