The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Honourable Bimbo Adekanmbi, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, of spreading false and unsubstantiated allegations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Oyo APM tackles APC on alleged falsehood
The party stated this in a press release by the Director of Communication and Spokesperson, APM Governorship Campaign Council, Yinka Oladoyinbo, on Wednesday.
The statement was coming ahead of political activities gradually intensifying, especially in Ibadan ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation had alleged that APM and its candidate, Hon Adekanmbi, were behind the destruction of APC campaign billboards in parts of Ibadan.
The APM Governorship Campaign Council, however, stated that it has nothing to do with whatever happened to the campaign materials of the APC, and advised the party and its candidate not dragged APM into such an issue, if at all it ever happened.
It described its candidate as a peaceful politician who had never been associated with activities capable of leading to the destruction of other people’s property.
APM further counseled the APC Campaign Governorship Council and the party’s supporters to desist from making what it described as unfounded allegations against the APM candidate.
It stated that no amount of falsehood and unfounded allegations against Adekanmbi and the APM can stop the defeat of the APC at the polls in 2027.
According to the council, the allegations were part of a political strategy to gain public support ahead of the 2027 elections, arguing that the APC should focus on presenting its programmes and policy proposals to the electorate.
The campaign council further alleged that the APC had previously attempted to blame its internal crisis on APM members by claiming that some of its leaders were attacked during political engagements.
It also accused the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation of spreading a false narrative about an alleged diphtheria outbreak in the state.
It stressed stressed that the APC and its campaign organisation obviously has no programmes and policy proposals to convince the electorate, hence its resorts to making false claims, deception and blackmail.
It expressed confidence in the result of the current administration of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, citing improvements in governance, service delivery and peaceful coexistence over the past seven years.
APM declared that the electorate would not return to what it termed a dark era, insisting that continuity in governance remained the best option for sustaining and expanding the state’s development.
The APM campaign council called on security agencies in the state to investigate the alleged destruction of the APC billboards and establish the authenticity of the claims, as well as identify those responsible for the incident, if it occurred.
It also urged all APM members to remain peaceful and continue their campaign activities without fear, expressing confidence in the ability of security agencies to protect lives and property.
