The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo State, Hon. Kunle Olatunji, has unveiled what he called his vision for economic transformation of the state, if elected as governor in 2027.
Kunle Olatunji and his economic transformation agenda
This was as he called for a change in the state’s leadership approach ahead of the 2027 general election, promising focused governance, economic integration and shared prosperity if elected governor.
Olatunji, in a statement issued by the Media Team of the Kunle Olatunji Campaign Organisation, criticised what he described as leadership failure of successive administrations, particularly those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, the two political parties failed to fully harness Oyo State’s economic potential for the benefit of its residents.
The Oyo ADP governorship candidate declared that poor governance, misplaced priorities, wastefulness and unfulfilled promises have hindered the state’s development aspirations.
While maintaining that Oyo State requires disciplined, accountable and development-orientated leadership capable of translating its human and economic resources into tangible benefits for the people.
Olatunji said his ambition goes beyond occupying political office, stressing that his objective was to provide strategic direction and institutional discipline to drive sustainable development across the state.
“This is precisely why I have offered myself to serve as the next governor of Oyo State in 2027. My aspiration is not merely about occupying political office.
“It is about providing the quality leadership, strategic direction and institutional discipline required to unlock the enormous potential of our state,” Olatunji stated.
He emphasised that the development challenges in the state include bad quality of leadership, the capacity to formulate and implement sound policies, and the political will to prioritise the long-term interests of the people above narrow personal or partisan considerations.
He stressed that his development agenda would focus on addressing these challenges by strengthening productive sectors, attracting investment, creating employment opportunities and improving human capacity through policies designed to encourage broad-based participation in the state’s economy.
Olatunji urged voters to approach the 2027 elections with careful consideration, evaluate candidates based on competence, character, capacity and demonstrated commitment to public service, noting that their decisions would influence the state’s political and economic direction.
He promised that an ADP-led government was resolute to pursue a different approach to governance, with a renewed commitment to purposeful leadership, excellent governance, human capacity development, economic integration and shared prosperity.
“For me and the team that will form the next ADP-led government, it shall truly be a New Order for a New Dawn. Together, we can reclaim the promise of Oyo State and build a future that works for everyone,” he said.
Hon. Kunle James Olatunji is contesting on the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and is campaigning with the slogan “KTJ 2027: Divinely Inspired, People’s Mandate.”
