Senator (Dr) Ibikunle Amosun (CON) has described the celebration of High Chief Tola Adeniyi on his 80th birthday as an attestation to his exceptional accomplishments.
Amosun, the governor of Ogun State from 2011 to 2019 stated this in a congratulatory letter, dated 31 May, 2025, to the accomplished journalist and media administrator.
Recalled that the multiple title-holder and former Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of the old Daily Times conglomerate, among others, celebrated his 80th birthday last Thursday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Senator Amosun, stated in the letter that High Chief Adeniyi, the Apata Onigegewura of Egbaland, has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian media space.
The letter from Senator Amosun reads in part:
“Dear Egbon,
“80 Hearty Cheers To A Prolific Writer And Columnist.
“I extend my warm felicitations and best wishes to you on your 80th birthday on Thursday, 29 May, 2025. Congratulations, Sir.
“This remarkable milestone is not only a celebration of your birthday but also a tribute to your exceptional accomplishments.
“You have left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s media landscape through your illustrious career as a prolific writer, columnist, literary icon, cultural artist, and journalist.
“Your impactful career at The Daily Times, especially through your byline and incisive column, Aba Saheed, remains a powerful testament to your journalistic excellence.”
Senator Amosun also acknowledged the thought-provoking contributions of High Chief Adeniyi in other leading publications, including the Nigerian Tribune and Punch newspapers, among others.
“I join your family, friends, and admirers in celebrating this significant occasion and in expressing gratitude to the Almighty God for His enduring grace upon your life.
“May the good Lord continue to bless you with good health and many more fruitful years ahead.
“Please accept my hearty congratulations and assurances of my highest regards,” the former governor of Ogun State added in the letter.
