Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has appointed a former federal lawmaker on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Saheed Akinade Fijabi as chairman of the Oyo State At 50 Anniversary Committee.
The appointment of Fijabi, a former member of the House of Representatives, was contained in a letter, on Monday, by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi.
Governor Makinde also announced the appointment of 10 members of the committee to spearhead the preparation for the 50th anniversary of Oyo State.
Other members of the committee include a former Head of Service of the state, Alhaja Ololade Agboola (deputy chairman); Dr Z.O. Ajuwon, OON; Mustapha Razaq Areo; Alhaja Fatimah Ololade Azeez; and S.A. Adejumo.
Other members are Pastor John Olasunkanmi Alabi; Alhaji A.K. Bello; Mrs Ronke Adedayo (Secretary); COMPOL Fatai Owoseni (rtd) and the Director General of Protocol, Mr Samuel Adegboyega Badejo.
As stated in a press release by the Special Adviser (Media) to Governor Makinde, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, all the appointments are with immediate effect.
Recall that the state will turn 50 years in 2026, having been created out of the defunct Western Region in 1976.
