Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun CFR, Alli Okunmade II, has declared that final and permanent decision on the Onido Stool matter will be taken by the Olubadan Advisory Council.
This was as he disclosed that he has refered the matter in respect of the disputed Onido Stool to the Advisory Council for adjudication.
The foremost Ibadan traditional ruler took the decision, on Thursday, following the persistent call by the deposed Onido of Ido, Oba Benjamin Ademola Isola Orobiyi II, for reinstatement back to the throne, more than 12 years after he was deposed.
The step taken by the Olubadan was contained in a press release by his Personal Assistant (Media), Dele Ogunsola.
The Onido Stool has become a subject of dispute since 2011 when Oba Benjamin Ademola Isola Orobiyi II was deposed.
Oba Isola was deposed by the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, on the recommendation of the then Olubadan of Ibadanland, the late Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1.
He was alleged to have taken some actions which were considered inconsistent with the Ibadan traditional institution and Tajudeen Agura was installed to replace him.
The crisis rocking the ancient and agrarian community however did not abate as Agura also suffered the same fate that befell his predecessor.
Oba Agura was deposed by the Ajimobi administration during the reign of the immediate past Olubadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1.
Following the deposition of Oba Agura, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola was subsequently installed by the same administration.
However, Oba Babalola was placed on suspension early February on the order of the state governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, over alleged involvement in illegal mining activities.
The suspension of Oba Babalola, according to the Oyo State government, was to give room for unhindered investigation.
The deposed Onido led some members of the Ido community to Oba Lekan Balogun yesterday to further plead his case for reinstatement.
He said he had earlier tendered an apology to the late Oba Odulana but which was not considered then, promising to repeat same before the incumbent Olubadan.
Oba Balogun said he would refer the apology by the deposed Onido to the Olubadan Advisory Council for adjudication, emphasising that whatever position taken on the Onido Stool would permanently lay the matter to rest.
