The 1925 Ibadan Tennis Club has said the legacy of love of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, should be celebrated, though the people are grieving over his passage.
President of the Club, Dr Oladipupo Sule, its Central Executive Committee members, Board of Trustees, past presidents and entire members stated this in a letter of condolence to the family of the late Olubadan.
The letter of condolence was titled “1925 Ibadan Tennis Club Commiserates With Owolabi Olakuleyin Family.”
The letter was signed by the External/Public Relations Officer of the 1925 Ibadan Tennis Club, Princess (Amb) Abimbola Egbesakin-Williams JP.
The Club, while grieving with the family of the late Olubadan, stated that it was consoled and rejoiced in the legacy of love and service the late foremost Ibadan traditional ruler left behind.
The President, 1925 Ibadan Tennis Club, Dr Oladipupo Sule, further stated: “He was a great unifying factor in Ibadanland.”
The letter reads: “To the Beloved Family of Late Olubadan, HIM Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakuleyin, 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“Letter of Condolence
On behalf of the President, Dr Oladipupo Sule, Central Executive Committee members, Board of Trustees, past presidents and entire members of the club, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you on the passing of Kabiyesi, who joined his ancestors today, 7th July, 2025.
“This is moreso as it coincides with the celebration of his 90th birthday and one year on the throne.
“Though we grieve with the family, we are consoled and rejoice in the legacy of love and service he left behind.
“He was a great unifying factor in Ibadanland.
“We pray that the Almighty God comforts your family and grant you the strength to carry on Kabiyesi’s legacy.”
