Ahead of the 2027 elections, the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo State, Kunle Olatunji (KTJ), has declared he will cause a major upset and record a historic victory in the state.
He reaffirmed confidence in securing victory at the governorship election, assuring supporters and the people of the state that the ADP will emerge as the preferred choice at the polls.
Olatunji stated in a press release on Tuesday that the growing acceptance of ADP across the state reflected the yearning of the people for a credible alternative after years of disappointment from successive administrations of the two dominant political parties.
ADP and its target of historic victory in 2027 elections
Speaking during a series of media engagements, the ADP standard-bearer expressed confidence that his candidacy would redefine the political landscape of Oyo State, describing the 2027 elections as a turning point in the state’s democratic journey.
He said the people of the state deserve visionary, purposeful and people-oriented leadership capable of restoring the state’s status as the true pacesetter in governance, economic prosperity and human capital development.
“Our administration will introduce a total overhaul of the leadership and governance architecture of Oyo State. We shall pursue a development-driven agenda anchored on competence, accountability, empathy and collective responsibility,” Olatunji said.
He explained that his governing philosophy was built on the principle of collectivism, where every indigene and resident will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to governance through collaboration, inclusiveness and shared responsibility.
“We shall harness our abundant human capital and natural resources while leveraging the strategic economic and geographical advantages of Oyo State to restore the developmental ideals championed by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and other visionary leaders of the South-West,” he added.
Olatunji noted that the ADP has continued to attract widespread support because of its commitment to integrity, competence and purposeful leadership, qualities he said have become scarce within the present political environment.
“We are determined to offer Oyo people a credible alternative. Our leadership represents intellectual capacity, sincerity, empathy, sound understanding of the people’s needs and the ability to inspire trust and confidence,” he stated.
He observed that while ADP may still be regarded by some as an underdog, the party’s growing popularity and expanding grassroots support across the state indicated that it was steadily becoming the preferred political platform among discerning voters.
“I assure our teeming supporters that their confidence in us will not be misplaced.
“By the grace of God, and with the overwhelming support of the electorate, we shall record a historic victory in the 2027 general election and reshape the political landscape of Oyo State.”
He also maintained that, while many political parties were battling with internal crises, factional disputes and leadership wrangling, ADP remained united, stable, disciplined and strategically positioned for electoral success.
“Our winning strategy is unique, people-centred and issue-based. It is designed to deliver a resounding victory that will become a reference point in Nigeria’s democratic history,” he added.
Olatunji assured that an ADP-led administration would provide effective, responsive and accountable governance driven by a genuine partnership between government and the people.
This, he said, was with the ultimate goal of achieving sustainable development, economic prosperity and the rebirth of the state.
“Together, we shall build a greater Oyo State where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive. The future is bright, and the time for purposeful leadership is now,” he concluded.
The Oyo ADP governorship candidate had, during a recent interview identified visionary leadership, sincerity of purpose, commitment to service, empathy, and a strong belief in collective governance as the core values distinguishing him from other candidates in the 2027 elections.
According to Olatunji, Oyo State has several brilliant and accomplished individuals across political parties contesting for the governorship position, but leadership required more than brilliance alone.
He had further stated that his sincerity of purpose, commitment to collaborative governance, visionary leadership style, and deep understanding of critical governance issues placed him in a strong position to provide purposeful leadership capable of surpassing the expectations of the people.
