Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, will, on Thursday, commission 33 kilometres inner roads rehabilitated in Ibadan, the state capital.
They are parts of the 84.7 kilometres Ibadan inner roads awarded by the state government in December 2023.
This was contained in a press release on Wednesday by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
The roads billed to be commissioned by the governor are the Iyaganku-Seventh Day-Oke Bola Junction Road; Olubadan Stadium Junction-Vale College-NUJ Press Centre Junction with a spur to Total Filling Station-Radio Nigeria-Kobiowu Estate-Akinyemi Junction-Ring Road (3.85km);
The dualised Mile 110-Mobil (Ring Road)-Challenge Road (8.50km); the dualised Bus Stop Agodi Gate-Oje-Beere-Oja’ba-Molete Under Bridge Road (10.80km) and Oke Adu-Ode Aje-Aremo-Orita Aperin (3.50km).
Others are Idi Arere-Kudeti-Eleta-Idi Aro-Labo Junction-Orita Aperin Road (2.80km); Idi Arere-Popo Yemoja Road-Oke Ado-Molete Road (1.40km) and Oke Ado-Tribune-Imalefalafia-Ososami-Iyana Adeoyo Junction-Ring Road (2.15km).
Recall that Governor Makinde had made it clear that the administration would focus on fixing inner roads across the state after it had successfully connected and linked all the zones of the state with quality roads.
The roads included the 65km Ibadan-Iseyin Road; 34.6km Oyo-Iseyin Road; 76.67km Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso Road; the rehabilitated Iganna-Elekookan-Igangan Road and the ongoing 44km Ido-Eruwa Road.
Recall that Vice President Kashim Shettima, last May, inaugurated the 76.67km Ogbomoso-Iseyin Road, named after a former governor of the state, the late Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Shettima, during the inauguration, commended Governor Makinde, describing him as a collaborative partner and also executing critical capital projects.
“Oyo State has a pivotal role in our nation’s economy and will always remain a top priority in our efforts to stabilise and promote unity and peace across the nation,” he had said.
Shettima also saluted the governor for his dedication to leaving behind a legacy project that would transcend generations.
He said the 76.67-kilometre road being inaugurated was not only connecting communities within the state but would also serve as a vital link to another geo-political zone in the country.
He noted that the road infrastructure projects of Governor Makinde’s government should serve as an exemplary model for every state and every Nigerian committed to the country’s development.
In his remarks, Governor Makinde restated his commitment to infrastructure development in every nook and cranny of the state.
He said he would continue to link towns and villages across the state through road interconnectivity to reduce infrastructure deficit and also move the state from poverty to prosperity.
Makinde had also used the occasion to woo both local and foreign investors to come to Oyo State, asserting that his administration has provided a conducive atmosphere for business to thrive.
