He gave the charge while officially presenting the Staff of Office to Oba Olaoye, who is the 21st Soun of Ogbomosoland.
The official coronation and presentation of Staff of Office was held at the Soun of Ogbomoso Township Stadium, Ogbomoso today.
Governor Makinde congratulated the traditional ruler and expressed optimism that the reign of the new Soun would usher in more development and prosperity to Ogbomosoland.
The governor also expressed optimism that the vast network of friends and associates of the new Soun would be tapped into towards the development of Ogbomosoland.
Oba Ghandi, in his speech, titled “My Dream And My Reality”, after receiving the instrument and staff of Office from Governor Makinde, expressed gratitude to God and all who made the day a reality.
He said he accepted the throne as a call from God to serve the people of Ogbomosoland and appealed to all sons and daughters of Ogbomoso to work with him in order to harness the potentials of the land.
Oba Ghandi added that the strength of Ogbomosoland does not lie in the crown he wears alone but also in the bond that binds every sons and daughters of Ogbomoso together, regardless of religion or gender.
He assured of his unwavering commitment to the development of Ogbomoso, adding that he would continue to engage and consult with all critical stakeholders of Ogbomosoland towards the actualisation of his dream for his people.
Immediate past vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, in his goodwill message, described the new Soun as his close friend of many years.
He added that Oba Ghandi has great passion and love for others and has remained a truthful person who does not discriminate against anyone regardless of social status, religion and ethnicity.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state, in his goodwill message, wished the traditional ruler a peaceful and successful reign.
Senator Adeleke also called on all Ogbomoso sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora to rally round the traditional ruler.
Various other speakers, in their goodwill messages at the event, commended Governor Makinde for staying neutral in the selection process of the new Soun of Ogbomoso, despite his capacity to do so.
Others present at the event included Secretary to the Government of Nigeria (SGF) George Akume (represented) and a former military governor of Oyo State, General Oladayo Popoola (rtd).
Some of the royal fathers present were the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; Olu of Warri, Oba Ogiame Atunwatse; Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Akanbi; Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal; Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Aladesanmi III; Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, and other prominent traditional rulers.
Also present were members of the National Assembly from Oyo State, members of the State Executive Council, past and present members of the state House of assembly members and captains of industry, among others.
