Family Unveils One-Week Burial Programme For Alao-Akala
The family of the late former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, has released the burial programme of the elder stateman and political titan.
The Bobagunwa of Ogbomosoland and Otun of the Source died in his Ogbomoso country-home on 12 January, 2022 at the age of 71.
The burial programme, as contained in a statement signed by Hon Segun Dokun Odebunmi, Chairman (Media) of the Burial Committee, the programm will commence on Monday, 14 February and end on 20 February, 2022.
The burial arrangements are as follows: Monday, 14 February, 2022-Lecture and Day of Tributes by the political class at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Liberty Road, Ibadan, Oyo State. Time: 11:00am;
Tuesday, 15 February, 2022-Lecture and Day of Tributes at the 1500 Lecture Theatre, College of Health Science, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso. Time: 10:00am. Praise Night at his residence, Opadoyin Akala Lodge, Randa Ogbomoso, Oyo State. Time: 4:00pm;
Wednesday, 16 February, 2022-Lying-in-State and Executive Session at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan. Time: 12:00pm. The hearse afterwards depart in a motorcade to Ogbomoso;
Thursday, 17 February, 2022- Cultural display and parade. Starting point, his residence, Opadoyin Akala Lodge, Randa Ogbomoso. Time: 10:00am;
Lying-in-State/Christian Wake and Service of Songs at Ogbomoso High School Open Field, Ogbomoso. Time: 4:00pm;
Friday, 18 February, 2022-Final Burial Service at Beulah Baptist Conference Ground, Behind Baptist High School, Ogbomoso. Time: 11:00am;
Interment follows immediately at his residence, Opadoyin Akala Lodge, Randa, Ogbomoso; reception and entertainment of guests at Ogbomoso Recreation Club, Ilorin Road, Ogbomoso;
Sunday, 20 February, 2022- Thanksgiving Service at Oke-Elerin Baptist Church, Ogbomoso. Time: 10:00am;
The chairman, Central Planning Committee, Senator Brimmo Yusuff, assured that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure safety of people and valuables during the event.
