As Christian faithful celebrate Easter across the globe, Senator Kola Balogun has urged Nigerians to imbibe the sacrifice of love, as epitomised by Jesus Christ.
The former federal lawmaker who represented Oyo South Senatorial District in the ninth Senate stated this in a message to felicitate Christians on the occasion of Easter celebration.
He called on the generality of the people, especially the Christian faithful, to look beyond the celebration and reflect on the spirit of love, sacrifice and selflessness, as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
He said Jesus Christ, out of love for humanity, paid the supreme sacrifice by laying down his life on the cross as an atonement for the sins of mankind.
“My wife, Mrs Gbonjubola Balogun, and I felicitate with the Christian faithful on the occasion of yet another joyous season of Easter celebration.
“We should all look beyond the celebrations and festivities attached to the season, reflect deeply and imbibe the essence of Easter, which are love and sacrifice.
“Easter is a season of love as demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ who left His throne above and came to this world to offer Himself as an atonement for our sins.
“Jesus Christ laid a good example of love and sacrifice for humanity. The Holy Scripture made us to understand that He was a sinless man who choose to die for us, the sinners.
“He came and died a very painful death on the cross for you and I. What love and sacrifice can be greater than this?
“We should always strive to emulate Jesus Christ in all our daily activities, both as individuals and as corporate members of our dear country, Nigeria.
“In the spirit of true love, no sacrifice can be too much to make to put smile on the faces of our fellow humans. We must daily seek to promote the happiness and joy of our neighbours.
“We should continue to dwell among ourselves in love, selflessness and purity of thought and action towards our fellow humans, as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
“In our little ways, and with love and prayers, we should deliberately continue to seek the face of God for peace, growth and development of our dear country.
“It is on this note that I wish us all a Happy Easter celebration. May God Almighty grant us the grace to live to witness many more of it in good health, peace, happiness and prosperity,” Senator Balogun stated in the message.
