Bimbo Adekanmbi, the reportedly anointed candidate of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for the governorship election in Oyo State in 2027, has paid a visit to the Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi.
The visit by Adekanmbi, a former Commissioner for Finance, during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, was seen as a strategic move, a part of ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship race in the state.
During the visit to Sanusi, Adekanmbi sought the support and cooperation of Sanusi, who is also the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Indeed, the influence of the business magnate, renowned philanthropist and owner of the Ilaji Hotel and Resorts across grassroots structures and socio-political circles in Oyo State has continued to gain momentum.
Recall that another governorship hopeful and a media entrepreneur, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Accord Party, paid a visit to Sanusi, where he solicited the support of the great football enthusiast for his ambition.
In the same vein, some prominent women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) visited the renowned philanthropist, apparently as part of the 2027 elections in the state.
Sanusi was accompanied to the visit by the chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, who described the meeting as fruitful and progressive towards the future development and political stability of Oyo State.
Sources at the meeting disclosed that discussions centred on leadership, development, grassroots mobilisation, and the need for experienced and people-oriented governance capable of sustaining the pace of growth across the state.
Chief Sanusi appreciated the visit and reaffirmed his continued commitment to the progress, peace, and development of Oyo State.
He was also said to have emphasised the importance of unity among progressive-minded leaders for the advancement of the people and residents of the state.
The high-level engagement between Adekanmbi and Sanusi has generated reactions within the political circle, with many observers describing it as a significant development in the build-up to the 2027 governorship contest in Oyo State.
