Olamide To Stop Releasing Studio Albums
Nigerian rap music sensation, Olamide Adedeji, also known as Baddo, has hinted that he may stop releasing studio albums.
Well known for consistently dropping one album per year, he said it has been mad releasing studio albums back-to-back, noting that he will be dropping singles at intervals.
He said these on his Twitter page on Saturday, to announce the ‘birth’ of his 10th album, titled Unruly, which he said is 95 per cent ready and may be his last studio album.
Olamide, who said he is yet to decide on the date for the release of the album, declared that he is putting finishing touches on it in order to make it “the best ever”.
“Next Album, #Unruly; 95% ready. Release date; I don’t know. Taking my time to make it the best ever… probably my last album.
“Though I’ll drop singles once in a blue moon when I feel like it. It’s been a mad ass run; giving albums back-to-back,” the popular rapper tweeted.
Olamide, since his emergence on the Nigerian music scene in 2010, has been consistently dropping one studio album per year since he released his debut album, Rapsodi, which has the top-charting track, Emi Duro, in 2011.
He has, since then, released eight other top-selling studio albums, including YBNL, a 20 tracker (2012); Baddest Guy Ever Liveth (2013); Street OT (2014); and 2 Kings, a collaboration with Phyno (2015).
Olamide also have other studio albums, including Eyan Mayweather (2015); The Glory (2016); Lagos Nawa (2017); Mafia Family (2018); Carpe Diem (2021) and UY Scuti (2021).
Olamide has collaborated with many other Nigerian artists, including Wizkid, 9ice, Fireboy, Reminisce, Naira Marley, Bella Shmurda and Dbanji.
