Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has announced the Executive Chairman of Oyo Housing Corporation, Chief Bayo Lawal, as his deputy, ahead the 2023 governorship election.
The governor made the announcement at the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and stakeholders’ meeting held at Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.
Makinde said, having consulted with leaders, they resolved to nominate Kishi- born lawyer from Irepo Local Government Area of the state as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2023 election.
The state chairman of the PDP, Mr Dayo Ogungbenro, in a chat newsmen shortly after the meeting, maintained that the choice of Chief Lawal is good for the party as the deputy governor, considering his experience in politics and other areas
The Oyo PDP chairman however re-emphasized that Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, who has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), remains the deputy governor of the state.
In a remark, Chief Bayo Lawal pledged his loyalty to Governor ‘Seyi makinde, the party leaders and urged the people of Oyo State to support the present administration in its strive to develop the state.
