The charge was contained in a statement, today, by the Spokesperson/Director, Media and Publicity of the Kogi APC Campaign Council, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.
The call is coming on the heels of raids on the residences of some APC chieftains in Kogi East, allegedly by some security operatives.
The party expressed serious concerns over the development, as it restated that it would welcome every effort at ensuring a peaceful governorship poll on Saturday.
There has been allegations and counter-allegations between the two main political parties in the election, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over threat of insecurity ahead of the election.
“We wish to reiterate that as a Campaign Council, we welcome every effort at ensuring a peaceful poll on November 11, 2023,” he stated.
He noted that the election is for the electorate to determine who will lead the state from January 27, 2024, adding that there should not be a reason for insecurity in the state.
The spokesperson of the APC governorship campaign council also expressed concerns regarding the alleged “needless raid on the residences of some of our chieftains in Kogi East.”
He said the ruling party in the state holds “the hope that they [APC chieftains and members] are not specifically targeted ahead of the election.”
The statement further reads: “We hereby call on security agencies to act professionally, fairly and with the patriotic intent to maintain law and order before, during and after the election.”
