Traditional Ruler Lauds Makinde Over Tourism Development
The Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has been commended for his efforts in ensuring rapid socio-economic development of the tourism sector in order to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
The Alado of Ado Awaye, Oba Olugbile Ademola Folakanmi, mave the commendation on Sunday, while his chiefs and members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the World Tourism Day on how to make the celebration of the 2021 edition a successful and memorable one in the history of the state.
Oba Folakanmi, on behalf of his chiefs and the people of Ado Awaye and environs, expressed gratitude to the governor for given his community the opportunity to host the 2021 edition of the World Tourism Day.
As contained in a release by the Secretary of the LOC, Kunle Kareem, the traditional rulers said: “This is a clear indication that Governor Makinde is seriously interested in developing Iyake Suspended Lake, the only natural suspended lake in the whole world.”
According to the Alado of Ado Awaye, if the suspended lake is developed to meet up with the international standard, it can make Oyo one of the richest state in the country.
The traditional ruler called on his people to cooperate with government officials as well as invited guests in order make a huge success of the event, slated for tomorrow.
The Head of Kingmakers in Ado Awaye, Chief David Akintayo, assured Oba Folakanmi of the continued support of his colleagues on all programmes involving the community, particularly tomorrow’s celebration of the 2021 World Tourism Day.
Governor Seyi Makinde is expected as the Special Guest of Honour, while Engr. Dotun Sanusi, CEO of Ilaji Resort, is the Guest Speaker, with Alhaji Ahmed Raji SAN as the chairman of occasion.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, is the Royal Father of the Day, with Oba Olugbile Folakanmi as the Royal Host, while Honourable Muftau Abilawon, chairman of Iseyin Local Government Area is the Chief Host.
Dr. Oludare Akande will grace the occasion as the Chief Launcher of a book authored by the Alado of Ado Awaye.
Highlights of the event include conferment of Award of Excellence on Governor Makinde and his deputy, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan; Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin; High Chief Adebayo Akande; Engineer Dotun Sanusi; and Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, among others.
