It is a well-known fact that our country, today, is made up of millions of untrained, jobless youths who pose danger to a country that has been in distress over the years.
Senator Kola Balogun, knowing the important role the youth plays in socio-economic development, has picked up the gauntlet as he seeks to reverse the trend.
The senator has been unrelenting in promoting human capital development, particularly in the area of training and empowerment in agriculture and its value chain.
This stem out of his belief that an idle hand is a devil’s workshop, just as he is of a strong conviction that a well-trained, equipped and empowered individual is a potential nation-builder.
Senator Balogun also strongly believes that the lost glory of the old Western Region, built through agricultural produce, can be restored if the people can be encouraged to embrace farming.
The senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, in seeking to promote human essence and the usefulness of man, both unto himself and the society, in 2021, facilitated five training and empowerment programmes in agricultural value chain for youth and women in the senatorial district.
Within the last two months of 2021, Senator Balogun facilitated the training and empowerment of youths and women in Oyo South Senatorial District.
The first of such for the constituents was held in November at the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Moore Plantation, Ibadan.
Also in December 2021, a two-legged training and empowerment in agricultural value chain were held for youths in Ibadan and Ibarapa zones of the Oyo South Senatorial District in December 2021.
