The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has received an Award of Excellence for its outstanding performances in health insurance scheme.
The Dove Health Care 2023 Award programme was recently held at Paul Hendricks Hall, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
According to the organisers of programme, the recognition was as a result of the agency’s excellent performance in easing the plight of the poor and vulnerable in the state and Nigeria in general.
In his keynote address, Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Olabode Ladipo, commended the Dr Sola Akande-led OYSHIA for the rapid development of health insurance scheme in the state.
The health commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Health, Dr Soji Adeyanju, also appreciate the agency for projecting the image of the state to the outside world in the area of health insurance management.
In his acceptance speech, the Executive Secretary, OYSHIA, Dr Akande, dedicated the award to over 300,000 enrollees in the state.
He particularly dedicated the award to the Oyo State governor, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde, for providing the enabling environment for OYSHIA as well as its entire staff to thrive.
Dr Akande disclosed that the latest will make the sixth awards received so far by OYSHIA within the last six months.
Dignitaries present at the event included the wife of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Dr (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, represented by Dr. Olamiju Àjànàkú and the Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital (UCH) Professor Jesse Àbíọdún Otegbayo.
Also present were a former Chief Medical Director of UCH, Professor Biodun Ilésanmí, Rábì Abdallah (of the NTA Network) and OYSHIA Management staff, among others.
