Oyo APC Congress: Party Must Ensure Fairness and Equity-Akande
A governorship hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Professor Adeolu Akande, has called on the party leadership to ensure fairness, equity and justice to members as the party’s ward congress on Saturday.
The professor of Political Science declared that doing so is a sacred responsibility of the party and also admonished faithful to ensure a hitch free conduct of the party’s ward congress, holding on Saturday.
Akande, who is the chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), said these in a statement issued in Ibadan and emphasised the need for all stakeholders to put the interest of the party above their personal interest.
The governorship aspirant asserted that the APC, as a party, has a sacred responsibility to guarantee fairness, equity and justice to its members.
“The party must guarantee its members internal democracy. For me, any political party that is not fair and just to its members does not deserve to be trusted by the electorates.
“The success of this congress will go a long way to prove to the electorates that we in the APC are ready to wrestle power from this clueless administration of Governor Seyi Makinde who has failed woefully to guarantee peace and security across the length and bredth of the state.
“The people of Oyo State are looking up to the APC in 2023 because the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is already a carcass. The way and manner we conduct our affairs will prove to the electorate that we are ready for them,” he said.
The APC chieftain urged all party members to ensure that credible and vibrant people are elected as party executives at the ward, local government and state levels.
