Chief Segun Oni, the flag-bearer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State, has declared that all stakeholders must rise up and fight the evil of terrorism and insecurity.
He said this in his reaction to the killings, on Sunday, at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, describing the attack as senseless.
He also expressed shock and sadness over the unwarranted attack on innocent and defenseless worshippers, on Sunday, which left scored dead and several others injured.
Oni, in a statement by the chairman, Media Advisory Council for Segun Oni Campaign Organisation, Moses Jolayemi, said the incident is an attack on Ekiti and declared, “We must rise to fight this evil.”
The former Ekiti State governor further said: “This is the time to pay serious attention to our security needs and invest heavily in our security infrastructure at state and federal levels.”
While recommending a total overhauling of the nation’s security architecture, Chief Oni said “we must never allow terrorism and evil to thrive or define us a people.”
He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, the Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN and the entire people of the state over the unfortunate and senseless killings.
