Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1, on Friday, promoted four senior chiefs and one chief, all in the Balogun Line.
The promotion of the five chiefs by the Olubadan was in line with the tradition of ascendancy to the Olubadan Stool.

Traditional rites, which took place at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, were performed by the Oluwo of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Popoola Labosinde, who decorated the elevated chiefs with the traditional Akoko leaves.
Those who stepped up in the Olubadan ladder included Senior Chief Samuel Adegboyega Adeniran (elevated from Ekefa Balogun to Abese Balogun); and Senior Chief Taiwo Anthony Adebayo Oyekan (promoted in absentia from Agbakin Balogun to Maye Balogun).

Oba Olakulehin congratulated the new chiefs on their elevation. He charged them to use their rise in position for the progress, unity and development of Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
The Ibadan paramount ruler advised the newly-elevated traditional title holders to rededicate their lives for the preservation of the Yoruba culture. He urged them to improve the quality of lives of residents and indigenes of Ibadanland as well.
Oba Olakulehin also emphasised the need for the promoted chiefs to remain dedicated and committed in the performance of their duties.
