Grand Oak Limited, makers of Seaman’s Schnapps, have been urged to move ahead of producers of fake products in order to stop the distribution and sales of adulterated products.
Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1, gave the advice when he received top management staff of Grand OAK in his palace at Oke Aremo, Ibadan, on Saturday.
The Ibadan paramount traditional ruler warned that there are adulterated Seaman’s Schnapps, regarded as the traditional white spirit of royalty, in circulation.
Oba Olakulehin spoke through High Chief Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin (Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland).
As contained in a release by his media aide, Mr Olugbemiga Ayoade, Olubadan said there is an urgent need to address the issue of adulteration of the product.
“There is a long standing relationship between the use of Seaman’s Schnapps for royal blessings, traditional and cultural libations and among traditional title holders.
“Fakes must therefore be prevented from circulating in the market to ensure the use of the genuine products in traditional ceremonies and occasions,” Olubadan said.
The paramount ruler expressed his gratitude and that of the Olubadan-in-Council in receiving the delegation from Grand Oak Limited. He prayed that their business would continue to expand and wax stronger.
Earlier in his address, Marketing Manager of Grand Oak Limited, Mr Gbemileke Lawal, thanked the Olubadan and his council for the warm reception accorded him and his team.
He disclosed that they were at the Palace to receive royal blessings and to intimate the Palace about the new brand of their products, particularly Seaman’s Schnapps.
According to Mr Lawal, new technology has been employed to retain the good quality of the product to distinguished the original and quality Seaman’s Schnapps from fake and inferior ones.
He assured the traditional ruler of the continued patronage and interaction between Grand Oak Limited and the Palace from time to time.
