Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has concluded the installation of 20 floodlights in the Orisunmbare Plank Market, Bodija International Market, Ibadan.
The installation of the floodlights was part of efforts by the LCDA, under the Political Head/Administrator, Hon. Waheed Adeniyi Akanbi (Biiro), at combating crimes and improving on security of the people of the council area.
This was contained in a press release e-signed by the Head, Information Unit, Aare Latosa LCDA, Yetunde Fadipe-Oladepo.
Hon. Akanbi said the floodlights will illuminate the nooks and crannies of the plank market in order to forestall criminal activities within and around the market.
He said security, welfare and well-being of the people of Oyo State was germaine and was prioritized by the Governor ‘Seyi Makinde-led administration at the state level hence its replication at the local government level.
“We have to emulate the four cardinal points policies, most especially security, of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in order to ensure the well-being, welfare, security of lives and properties of our people at the local government.
“We have just concluded the first phase of the Light-Up Project in the plank market and we are putting all hands on deck to commence the second phase.
“We implore our people in the market to make good use of this project and ensure they are not vandalized,” the Aare Latosa LCDA administrator stated.
He also assured the people of more dividends of democracy at the grassroot level in the Omituntun 2.0 programme of Gov Makinde.
These, he assured, cut across all sectors, qualitative education, improved Primary Health Care delivery and socio-economic development, to mention a few*
In his response, Chairman, Plank Sellers Association, Alhaji Aderoju Waliyi Adewale, congratulated Governor Makinde on his re-election for the second term in office.
He also appreciated the Aare Latosa LCDA political head/administrator, Hon. Akanbi, for the kind gesture accorded the market.
Alhaji Adewale promised to manage and utilize the opportunity very well and also cooperate with Hon. Akanbi for the sustainable development of the LCDA under Omituntun 2.0.
