A Lagos State-based female lawyer, Mrs Aderonke Adekoya-Ogunjobi, has been accused of illegally taking over the property of Goodwill Private Schools Limited, Ikorodu, Lagos while students were writing their WAEC examinations.
The owner of the school, Pastor Sunday Enikuomehin, further alleged that the female lawyer perpetrated the act, based on an illegal execution of a strange judgment against the school.
Counsel to the school owner, Dr Benson Enikuomehin, stated this in a letter to the female lawyer, Mrs Adekoya-Ogunjobi, of Ronke Adekoya & Co., Suite 8A, Ground Floor, East Pavilion, Opp. Lagos High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square Complex, Onikan, Lagos State.
As contained in the letter, Our ref: BE/SC/LA/GWL/AAO/01/2025, dated May 22, 2025, the female lawyer allegedly instigated the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and some hoodlums to execute the strange court judgement on the property of Goodwill Private Schools Limited.
“We are solicitors to Pastor Sunday Enikuomehin and Goodwill Private Schools Limited, Ikorodu, Lagos (hereinafter called ‘our clients’) on whose express instructions we address this letter to your good-self.
“Our brief is that on Monday, 19th of May, 2025, yourself, in company of some security men (led by one Ishaya Dauda with ID Card No. 50 of EFCC), invaded our clients’ property at Goodwill Private Schools Limited, located at Aiyegbami Street, Eyita, Ikorodu, Lagos.
“[You] took over the schools while students were writing their WASCE and sent everyone out of the school.
“When our client requested to know why you embarked upon this self-help, they were told that you had come to execute court’s judgment that gave your client possession of the property,” it was stated in the letter.
Dr Enikuomehin however alleged that Mrs Adekoya-Ogunjobi did not come with the Sheriffs (as required by the law) to carry out the illegal execution.
He further stated that following his intervention that the matter had not been decided upon and that same is still pending before Justice O. A. Owoeye of Court 10, Federal High Court, Ikoyi, the female urged Mr. Dauda, who was said to be acting on behalf of the EFCC, to ignore the caution.
“Our client told us that the EFCC officer conducted a kangaroo handover and handed some documents to you to take over the property of our clients, albeit, illegally.
“It is the word of our clients that you thereafter proceeded to station ferocious-looking thugs on the premises to ward off any person whatsoever.
“Our clients have provided video evidence in which you threw caution to the winds and personally supervised the evacuation of students from the premises.
“It is on record that, when the proprietor of the school cautioned you that, as a lawyer, you should not violate the order of the Honourable Court that forbade the EFCC from occupying the Goodwill Private Schools, pending the determination of the matter before the court, you flagrantly ignored the warning, stood on the door to the gate of the school and urged students and teachers to vacate the premises.
“You refused to allow the students to take their chairs and personal properties. This was the height of meanness!
“You are very much aware that this matter is pending before the Honourable Court and that no court judgment has ever been delivered either in your client’s favour or any person whatsoever.
“How you came about the judgment you allegedly levelled its execution is a matter of grave concern to every right thinking person.
“By the record of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), you were called to the Nigerian Bar in 2010 with SCN Number, SCN074469. It is expected that, by your year of call, you ought to know your threshold on such matter of this nature.
“Our instruction is to petition the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) on this unwholesome and reprehensible conducts exhibited by you.
“We also have our clients’ mandate to petition appropriate security agencies on how you procured some unscrupulous officers to aid you in this untoward acts.
“Our clients have also directed that we commence legal actions in the appropriate court of justice to redress the violation of their rights in the serene academic environment which you treacherously violated with the invasion. (Photographic evidence with the videos have been forwarded to your WhatsApp No. 08038389164),” it was stated.
Dr Enikuomehin therefore demanded from the female lawyer, Mrs Adekoya-Ogunjobi the following:
“To call the thugs you placed on the premises and order them to vacate the place with speed and alacrity within the next 24 hours.
“To write unambiguous letter of apology to our clients through this law firm within the next 24 hours of the receipt of this letter.”
“Upon your failure, refusal and neglect to meet the above demands within the time frame given in (a & b) above, we shall, without any further correspondence with you, carry out our clients’ instructions as stated above.
“You are at liberty to treat the content of this letter with scorn and a hand of levity. The consequences of your decision may be dire,” Dr Enikuomehin stated in the letter signed on his behalf by the Head of Chambers, Omolola Omoyele, Esq.
