Dekor Congratulates PDP, Wike Over Rivers LG Election
Honourable Dumnemene Robinson Dekor has congratulated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates for the success recorded in the Rivers State local government election, held last Saturday.
The federal lawmaker, who represents Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, particularly congratulated the two PDP chairmanship candidates for Khana and Gokana local government areas, Dr. Bariere Thomas and Hon Deko Confidence, respectively, and their councilors, describing their victory in the election.
Dekor described the electoral victory of the PDP candidates as well deserved and historic, adding: “Nothing is denied to well-directed labour; nothing is ever to be attained without it.”
The federal lawmaker said the tougher the battle, the sweeter the victory, recalling the long journey of wresting the reins of power from the former administration in the state by the PDP, noting that it was a no mean achievement.
Dekor, in a statement made available to Newscoven.ng, gave the credit to the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, whom he described as a visionary leader that knows when to strike and rightly too.
The Ogoni-born politician and a former Commissioner for Works as well as former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly said Wike deserves all the gratitude for the electoral success.
According to him, the governor not only showed rare bravery in his fight for the enthronement of democracy in the state but also ensured that there is equity and fair-play in the distribution of resources and due representation of wards, constituencies and districts that make up the state at all levels of government.
“We cannot thank His Excellency enough but to join hands to pray for him and support his New Rivers Vision for the future of our children,” Honourable Dekor added.
