Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI), Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, has been showered with encomium by a group of old students of the institution who paid him a courtesy call in his office.
They described him as a wonderful teacher who has been positively shaping the lives of numerous students over the years.
The group of old students, under the aegis of “Ibadan Polywood Connect Worldwide” led by their leader, Asiwaju Olanrewaju Ganiyu, disclosed that Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi taught all of them in the last 23 years.
As stated in a release by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Soladoye Adewole, they disclosed that the acting Rector was a wonderful teacher who shaped their lives positively.
The old students noted that the appointment of Dr Lasisi as the acting Rector of TPI by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde lifted their spirits, describing the acting Rector as always been a good example to all his students.
They also noted that Dr Lasisi was a father figure to all of them during their student days and was also lending helping hands to them after their studentship.
The “Ibadan Polywood Connect Worldwide” urged the acting Rector to do his very best to lift the image of TPI and develop the institution to an enviable level and pledged to lend helping hands in his efforts to reposition the Institution.
In his response, Dr Lasisi thanked all the ex-students for their kind gesture and pledge of support, stating that, as a teacher, he believed that it was his responsibility to perpetually mould lives of younger ones.
Also commenting, Deputy Rector of the institution, Mrs Olaide Salawu and acting Registrar, Mr Joseph Adewumi Ogunjimi, described the group as ambassadors of the institution.
The duo appreciated them for recognising the contributions of Dr Lasisi to their development in life, stressing that their kind gesture in terms of appreciations showed that the reward and appreciation of teachers are no longer in heaven.
