The Heritage Event Hall, the completed and publicly accessible first phase of the Evergreen Musical Heritage Foundation (EMHF), has been opened to the public.
The Management, in a statement, described the event hall as a vibrant sanctuary and visionary project dedicated to the preservation of the rich history of African Music.
Rationale Behind EMHF
“It serves as a vibrant venue for musical performances, conferences, exhibitions, cultural events, educational programmes, and public engagement.
“More than an event space, it is a place where music lives, where heritage is honoured, and where culture continues to flourish,” it was stated.
The Management also disclosed that development and renovation will continue across several major facilities that will collectively make EMHF Heritage Event Hall one of Africa’s foremost centres for music and cultural heritage.
The facilities were listed to include a music recording studio, music library and research centre, music museum, exhibition Hall of Fame, theatre and performing arts centre, music souvenir shops, and a digital archive.
In addition, there are additional galleries dedicated to celebrating the lives and achievements of Africa’s greatest musical icons.
According to its management, the Heritage Event Hall represented only the beginning of a much greater vision.
The accompanying images, it was stated, illustrated another important dimension of the Foundation’s mission: postgraduate scholars, including Master’s and Ph.D. candidates, conducting advanced research within the Foundation.
Ongoing Workshop, Documentation, Awards, Memorial Ceremonies
The Management also made it known that EMHF was developed as a leading academic, research and entertainment hub where students, historians, ethno-musicologists, musicians, and cultural researchers can study, document, preserve and promote the rich history and evolution of African music.
“One of the Foundation’s defining missions is to rescue, preserve, and showcase the priceless works of legendary musicians whose contributions have shaped African music but whose stories and achievements risk being forgotten with time.
“Through carefully curated archives, rare recordings, photographs, instruments, manuscripts, personal collections, documentaries, and interactive exhibitions, EMHF will ensure that their legacies remain permanently accessible to scholars, artists, and the general public.
“The Evergreen Musical Heritage Foundation is more than a museum. It is a living institution where history is continually preserved, knowledge is created, talent is nurtured, and culture is celebrated.
“It will serve as a bridge connecting the pioneers of yesterday with the innovators of today and the visionaries of tomorrow.
“As one of the first institutions of its kind in Africa, EMHF is poised to become an internationally recognised destination for cultural tourism, academic research, creative innovation, and musical excellence.
“It will significantly enhance the cultural profile of Lagos State and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading destination for heritage tourism, arts education, and the preservation of Africa’s rich musical traditions,” it was added.
Bimbo Edo, Managing Director of Evergreen Musical Company, Lagos declared: “EMHF stands as a lasting tribute to Africa’s musical heritage—a place where forgotten legends are remembered, timeless masterpieces are preserved.
“It is a place where new knowledge is created, and the universal language of music continues to unite people across generations and across the world.”
