The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ibadan North-West Local Government Area, has honoured Senator Sharafadeen Alli for his outstanding leadership and contributions to humanity.

The honour for the lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas.

Prophet Victor Olaitan, General Coordinator of CAN Ibadan North-West, said Senator Alli has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to improving the lives of others.

He said Alli’s contributions to humanity, irrespective of background or belief, have made significant impact on the community.

The clergy said the lawmaker’s actions embodied the true spirit of service and compassion, calling on other leaders to emulate Senator Alli’s approach to leadership.

“We need more leaders like Senator Alli, who lead with empathy and inclusivity. His example is one that should inspire us all to contribute positively to society.

“The ceremony is a reminder of the powerful impact of selfless service and the importance of recognising those who dedicate their lives to the welfare of others,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, the lawmaker expressed gratitude to the association, pledging commitment to continued service.

Alli, who was represented by his wife, Alhaja Funmilayo Alli, said he was deeply committed to serving the people and would continue to strive for the betterment of the society.

“I thank CAN Ibadan North-West for this honour. I am deeply committed to serving the people and will continue to strive for the betterment of our society. This award is a testament to my dedication and hard work,” he said.

Also reflecting on the senator’s achievements, Abas said that Alli’s leadership goes beyond political boundaries.

He said that Senator Alli has been a beacon of hope and an advocate for the less privileged.

“This award from CAN is well-deserved and highlights his unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts underscoring the senator’s broad appeal and impact,” Abas stated.

Earlier, Senator Alli inaugurated the L.A.B. Adigun Alumni Centre, the National Secretariat of Islamic High School Old Students’ Association (IHSOSA).

In another development, Senator Sharafadeen Alli took the centre stage at the recently-concluded annual Ileya Quranic Competition organised by the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS).

As contained in a statement by his media aides, Akeem Abas, the generous sponsorship of the competition elevated the event’s success.

The competition saw participants demonstrating exceptional proficiency in memorisation and recitation skills, reflecting their commitment to Quranic Studies.

Abdul-Salam Onipede and Muktar Adisa emerged as first-place winners in the Senior (Jizu Tabaraka) and Junior (Jizu Ammon) categories, respectively, receiving accolades and prizes for their outstanding performances.

Senator Alli emphasised the significance of such events in nurturing religious knowledge and moral values among the youth, strengthening the cultural fabric of the community.

“In a world where moral values are increasingly challenged, the teachings of the Quran provide a timeless guide for ethical living and community service,” he remarked.

Alli, represented by Dr Gafar Salaudeen, said supporting such competitions aligned with his broader goal of promoting education and cultural heritage in Oyo State.

He congratulated the winners and other participants, encouraging them to continue their Quranic studies.

“These prizes are not just a reward for your excellence but an investment in your future. May you use this support to continue your education and become exemplary members of our society,” he said.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to supporting educational initiatives and religious programs in the state.

“I believe that by investing in the education of our youth, we are securing a brighter future for our community.

“I am proud to support the BCOS Quranic Competition and look forward to seeing these young scholars grow and contribute positively to society,” he concluded.

The state-owned broadcasting station expressed gratitude to Senator Alli for his unwavering support, recognising his role in the event’s success and positive impact it had on the community’s intellectual and spiritual growth.

The Annual BCOS Quranic Competition, aims to promote Islamic education and foster spirit of healthy competition among young learners.

This year’s event, with Senator Alli’s sponsorship, was particularly notable for its increased participation and heightened enthusiasm among the students and their families.

In the senior category, Onipede emerged as the first-place winner receiving a prize of N100,000, while Abdul-Wakeel Khalid Ajao (2nd) and Abdul-Manan Abidemi (3rd) went home with N65,000 and N35,000, respectively.

In the junior category, Adisa clinched the first position with an award of N70,000, while Abdul-Lateef Ali (2nd) and Ahmad Omotosho got N50,000 and N30,000, respectively.
