Senator Sharafadeen Alli has disclosed that over 2,500 solar streetlight poles have already been installed across major streets in Oyo South Senatorial District.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker said more locations set to be covered in the coming days. He assured that the ongoing installation of solar streetlights would be completed very soon.
The lawmaker stated this on Friday after observing Jumat prayers and inaugurating solar light/inverter he donated to the Aleshinloye Market Central Mosque in Ibadan.
“I can tell you that we have covered some major streets across all the local governments in Ibadan. Currently, we are about installing solar lights in Igangan, Tapa and Ayete and will soon be operational.
“By the grace of God, installation in Igboora, Idere, Eruwa and Lanlate will be completed by mid-March,” Senator Alli said.
He restated that the initiative was in fulfilment of his electioneering promises to the people of Oyo South Senatorial District.
The lawmaker said the lighting project would enhance security, improve business activities and contribute to the overall development of the district.
According to Alli, “street lighting is a critical component of urban development, as it not only provides security but also fosters economic growth by enabling businesses to operate for longer hours.”
Senator Alli assured constituents that he remained focused on delivering more impactful projects across the senatorial district.
On Aleshinloye Market, he assured that such support would be extended to other religious communities within the market and the entire market.
The lawmaker also appreciated the support of his constituents, party leaders and stakeholders who he said have continued to back his developmental efforts.
Imam Rasheed Olore, the Chief Imam of Aleshinloye Market Central Mosque, expressed gratitude to the senator for his commitment to community development.
He described Senator Alli as a leader who keeps his promises and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him.
Olore urged other political leaders to emulate Alli’s approach by prioritising the needs of their people and implementing projects that have direct benefits.
Meanwhile, residents of areas already covered in the solar streetlight project have started enjoying the benefits, with traders, motorists and pedestrians expressing relief at the improved visibility at night.
As stated in a release, the residents described the project as yet another milestone in the developmental agenda of Senator Alli for Oyo South Senatorial District.
