He dismissed his alleged involvement in the travails of Abbo and declared that he has no hand in the sack of Senator Abbo.
Honourable Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to the President of the Senate, denied the involvement of his principal.
He said Abbo was only looking for somebody to blame for his loss at the Court of Appeal where he lost his seat as a senator.
Eyiboh said: “It is unfortunate if Abbo actually said that Akpabio was responsible for his removal. That is the swan song of a man looking for scapegoats.
“The Court of Appeal across the country decides cases based on the provisions of the Electoral Act and evidence advanced by petitioners.
The President of the Senate has no reason to witch-hunt any of his colleagues,” Eyiboh said.
The Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, on Monday voided the election of Senator Ishaku Abbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Abbo winner of the February 25, 2023 parliamentary election.
However, Amos Yohanna, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the election, rejected the result and took the matter to court.
The Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed Yohanna’s petition for lack of merit, but not satisfied, the PDP candidate headed for the Appeal Court.
The appellate court agreed with Yohanna’s counsel, Johson Usman (SAN), the results tendered clearly showed that there was no compliance with Section 137 of the Electoral Act.
The court went on to deduct the invalid votes from the parties and it showed that Yohanna and PDP won the election via majority of lawful votes.
The three-member panel, headed by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme, ordered INEC to issue a Certificate of Return to Yohanna as the validly elected lawmaker for the senatorial district.
