The 1981 Set of the Queen of Apostles Old Students’ Association (QUAPOSA) has donated 5.8KW inverter, 15KWH Lithium Battery and 450W premium Solar Panels(08) to its alma mater, Queen of Apostles Secondary Commercial Grammar School, Ibadan.

The commissioning and handing over ceremony was conducted on Wednesday, 30 September, 2026 within the premises of the school, located at the Oluyoro Area of the Ibadan metropolis.

The theme of the event was titled “45 Glorious Years After – Celebrating God’s Faithfulness.”

QUAPOSA- Class of 1981 stated at the event that it made the donation, 45 years after graduation to uplift the school and to celebrate God’s faithfulness.

Speaking on behalf of her classmates, Chairperson, QUAPOSA- Class of 1981, Mrs Abosede Abioye, said the event was historic, adding that, 45 glorious years after, the Class of 1981 returned to the school.

“But we have not returned merely to reminisce about the good old days. We have returned to remember. We have returned to appreciate.

“We have returned to give back. And we have returned to rebuild. Above all, we have returned to celebrate God’s faithfulness,” she stated.

Reminiscing on the transformation from girls to women, she said: 45 years ago, we walked through these same gates as young girls—full of dreams, youthful energy, and that unmistakable Queen of Apostles pride!

“Our uniforms may have been a little too big for us then, but our dreams were already big.

“Today, we stand here as women—mothers, grandmothers, professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, leaders, and contributors to society.

“But whatever achievements we may celebrate today, we must never forget where the foundation was laid.

Queen of Apostles formed us.

“The Reverend Sisters taught us discipline and faith. Our teachers taught us knowledge, excellence, and perseverance. This school taught us character, service, responsibility, and integrity. And those lessons have remained with us for 45 years.

“To our principals and present management, we say thank you for keeping the flame of Queen of Apostles burning.

“To our teachers, past and present, especially those here today: Thank you for planting the seeds that have grown into forests.

“And to our classmates who could not be here today, and especially those who have gone ahead of us to glory, we remember you with love. This celebration is yours too.”

Reflecting on the theme of the event, Mrs Abioye declared that her life and the lives of her classmates were truly a testimony of God’s faithfulness.

“Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us:

‘The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.'”

She declared that 45 years was a long journey, adding, “We have experienced changes in our country, career transitions, personal challenges, successes, disappointments, and the loss of loved ones.

“Yet, here we are…still standing, still smiling, still together, still giving. Only God could have done this! Some of us left this school with little more than our WAEC certificates and dreams.

“Today, God has taken us to places we never imagined. Some of us once knelt in prayer in this school chapel, asking God for direction.

“Today, we have returned with testimonies—and with something tangible for the next generation.

“This project is, therefore, more than a donation. It is our Thanksgiving offering. It is our Ebenezer.

As we say in 1 Samuel 7:12: “Thus far, the Lord has helped us.”

She spoke about the importance of giving back to the school, stating that the donation of the inverter and solar panels was not the first time the Class of 1981 has given back to its alma mater.

“By God’s grace, we have supported the school in different ways over the years, including our contribution to the school’s 70th anniversary in 2025.

“Those were our seeds. Today, we are privileged to plant another significant one, through the commitment and generosity of members of the Class of 1981 across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States, and beyond.”

She said the Class of 1981 chose the inverter and solar panels because it understood the importance of reliable electricity to effective teaching and learning in today’s world.

“We remember sitting in hot classrooms. We remember the limitations we faced as students.

“Today, we have the opportunity to make things better. We want the girls of Queen of Apostles today and tomorrow to have better opportunities than we had.

“We want the computer room to have dependable power. We want learning to be easier. We want technology to become a stronger part of their education.

“[This is] because when you bless the root, the branches will flourish. And when you invest in a girl, you invest in a generation,” she added.

Mrs Abioye further disclosed that the project was funded strictly 100 by members of the Class of 1981 with no government grant or loan.

She added that the donation was a way the 1981 classmates saying: “This is our school. This is where we were nurtured. Let us give back.”

She thereafter formally handed over the solar panel inverter system to the Management of Queen of Apostles Secondary School, Ibadan.

She charged the Principal and Management of the school to use it wisely, protect it, and ensure that it was properly maintained so that it can serve generations of students of Queen of Apostles.

To the students, Mrs Abioye said: “And now, to our dear students: Girls, this is your inheritance. Please do not take it for granted.

“Forty-five years ago, women who sat where you’re sitting today were students of this great school. Today, we have come to give back to the solid foundation of our lives – our Alma Mater… Up Queens!!!

She charged them to study hard, be disciplined, respect their teachers, honour their parents, fear God and dream big.

“And never allow your circumstances to tell you that you cannot become great. Always remember you are future leaders.

“And we have one request of you: In 45 years, come back and do even more than we have done today!,” she added

Addressing her classmates, Class of 1981, the chairperson said: “My dear classmates, what a journey! 45 years after leaving this school, we have come back together.

“Different professions, different locations, different experiences, different journeys. But one foundation one school, one class, one family and one faithful God.

“Class of 1981, we are not saying goodbye. We are saying: ‘We are still here! And, by God’s grace, this is only the beginning.

“As we commission this project today, we dedicate it to Almighty God, whose faithfulness has brought us this far.

“May every girl who passes through Queen of Apostles discover her purpose, develop her potential, and become a woman of excellence, integrity, and impact.”

Addressing others, Mrs Abioye said: “To God be all the glory for 45 glorious years. To Queen of Apostles,

Yhank you for the foundation. To our Reverend Sisters and teachers, thank you for the investment. To the Class of 1981, thank you for the unity, love, and commitment.

“And to our students, the future is yours. Make it count.

“May God continue to bless Queen of Apostles Secondary School. May God bless every teacher, every student, and every member of the Class of 1981.

“And may God’s faithfulness continue to speak in our lives, our families, and our generations.

“Forty-five glorious years after, we return with gratitude. We return with love. We return with a gift and we return with a testimony: Great is thy faithfulness.”
