Senator Kola Balogun has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organising a peaceful and seamless Presidential and National Assembly election.
This was as he also gave kudos to the electorate, media and security agencies for their peaceful conduct and good coverage of the election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) federal lawmaker stated this while speaking with the Newscoven.ng after casting his vote in his ward.
Senator Balogun and his wife, Mrs Mogbonjubola Kola-Balogun, voted at Unit 5, Ward 12 of Ibadan North-East Local Goverment Area, a little after 10.00am.
He declared that the peace witnessed during the conduct of the election had demonstrated the essence of democracy, adding that it was a good reason to keep hope alive as a nation.
He particularly commended the voters for their orderliness, noting that the election went on peacefully and smoothly in his ward without any form of interference, violence or intimidation.
The federal lawmaker said there may be a largely peaceful, democratic and successful election in 2023, if what he witnessed in and around the Ibadan metropolis is replicated across the country.
“My wife, Mrs Mogbonjubola Kola-Balogun, and I cast our votes at unit 5 of ward 12, Ibadan North East Local Government Area. We arrived at the polling station at a little after 10.00am.
“The process was seamless, the voters were orderly and the election went on smoothly without any form of interference, violence and or intimidation.
“If what I observed in and around Ibadan metropolis is replicated across the country, then we are going to end up with a largely peaceful, democratic and successful electoral process.
“At this point we must commend the INEC, the security agencies, the electorate and the media for this impressive and peaceful outcome.
“The essence of democracy is being demonstrated by this performance and it is a good reason for us as a nation to keep hope alive,” Senator Balogun stated.
