The Olubadan Coronation Committee set up to oversee the installation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, on Monday, held its inaugural meeting.
The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Bayo Oyero, had in attendance the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon Demola Ojo.
The meeting, which deliberated on coronation of Oba Ladoja, on 26 September, 2025, also agreed on a one-week programme of activities for the coronation.
As stated in a release by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade the programme will start on Monday, September 22 with an interdenominational service at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo.
The interdenominational service would be organised by the Central Council for Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).
This will be followed with a Cultural Day event on Tuesday, also promoted by the CCII, in partnership with the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
As contained in the, release there will be a Coronation Lecture to be delivered by renowned historian, Professor Toyin Falola.
A Mega Praise Worship will be held on Thursday at the Civic Centre, Idi Ape, while the main event, the coronation of the 44th Olubadan will take place at the historic Mapo Hall on Friday.
Prince Oyelade stated that the inaugural meeting was attended by representatives of the Olubadan, including the Asipa Olubadan-designate, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, Chief Nureni Adisa and Chief Adeola Oloko, media aide to the Olubadan-designate
Others present at the meeting of the committee included Commissioners for Culture and Tourism, Women Affairs and Information, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, Mrs Toyin Balogun and Prince Oyelade, respectively.
Chairmen of Egbeda and Ibadan South-East local government areas represented the 11 local government councils in Ibadanland, while the lawmaker representing Ibadan South-East in the state House of Assembly was also there.
Also present at the meeting of the coronation committee were the Governor’s Protocol Director-General and the Permanent Secretaries Protocol and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
