The 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Lekan Ishola Balogun Alli Okunmade II, has been described as a man who was destined for and attained greatness early in life.
The senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife, said this in a congratulatory message felicitating the Olubadan on his coronation today.
The federal lawmaker, in the message jointly signed with her husband, Chief Larry Ekwunife, also described the traditional ruler as a renowned scholar and politician who has contributed to the development of the country.
She admonished the Olubadan to continue to strive to work for the development of Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
“Kabiyesi, you are a man destined for greatness. Knowing that you are destined to be great, you choose very early in life your path to attaining greatness.
“From being a renowned scholar, you toed the path of politics and became a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to contribute to the development of your fatherland.
“From being one of the kingmakers who choose who rules over the affairs of his people, you ultimately became the traditional ruler of the most populous city in Black Africa.
“As you are being installed today as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, my gentle advice to you is in line with the admonition by one of the greatest British leaders ever, Winston Churchill, to wit: The price of greatness is responsibility.
“Kabiyesi, as you mount the throne of your forefathers, today, may God Almighty grant you the Solomonic wisdom to take Ibadanland, Oyo State and, by extension, the Nigerian Nation to greater heights.
“Long may you reign on the throne and in good health. Once again, congratulations sir, Senator Uche Ekwunife and her husband wrote in the congratulatory message.
